She has nobody to learn from, so she’s making her own mistakes. Dad takes a hike and now she’s hiking up her dress for two guys. You don’t think there’s a parallel there? These kids are very much the product of this cynical generation.”Oliver Stone on ‘Savages’:
“It touches on many things that I like: family, power, greed, murder, death, the border of Mexico and the U.S., and cartels. A lot of it—the sex, violence, and drugs—was probably scary and challenging for Blake, who seems like she comes from a nice family. It ain’t a Disney World ride and it certainly ain’t the Upper East Side.”

I was supposed to be sexy, this tough action girl. That’s what people expected…I felt like I was being objectified, and it made me uncomfortable. I wanted to be chic and elegant!”On how she has grown more assured of herself in recent years:
“Now that I’m older, I’ve learned how to own it, but I’m still not very overt. There are some women who dress for men. I dress for myself. It took me some time to get here. Being a mom and feeling grown-up have helped. Now if I’m going to wear something short, it has to have a high neck or a little sci-fi toughness to it, an edge.On her former, sexier self:
“I like to get positive attention. But if I have a choice between someone noticing in a negative way what I’m wearing and going, What was she thinking? or someone not noticing what I’m wearing, I would rather not make a statement at all and just have a good conversation instead.”

On her transition into the movie business, she explains:
“I woke up one day realising, ‘God, I’m an actor’. I don’t think I intended to be an actor. I think my mother wanted it for me. I loved telling stories, and I enjoyed the profession, but is it too late to be something else?”
On the subject of Brad Pitt:
“[Brad] has expanded my life in ways I never imagined. We built a family. He is not just the love of my life, he is my family. I hold that very dear.”
On what she’s learned from her Oscar-nominated fiance:
“I suppose what I’ve learned from Brad is to be able to have the kind of family whose happiness and well-being comes before your own. I’m very, very grateful to have such a loving family, and I wouldn’t have that without him.”
On her mother being an influence on how she handles issues with her children:
“My mom couldn’t yell, and she couldn’t swear. But she would cry. If I was out all night and didn’t call, I could see in her face that she didn’t sleep all night. And that she loved me.”
