Gray Poet

If you want to see your worst critic
Just take a look in the mirror to see
We know our faults that may not show
We imagine a better person we might be.

“Noah” – half review (C), half debate

brainsnorts inc.

5 This is not one of my standard film reviews that follows my usual structure of 1. Story, 2. Performance, 3. Opinion, 4. Justification, 5. Certification.  Instead, this is more of a monologue regarding the clash between the story told in this film and any religious account of Noah’s Ark.

To be fair to writer/director Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream), one should watch Noah as a film and story independent from any Biblical account.  I haven’t read the actual Bible story since college, and I don’t want to be influenced into a comparison.  While most of you might know me as Agnostic, one of my favorite college courses was “The Bible as Literature,” in which we examined select chapters as a work of fiction and not a historical document.  Hey, at least I read it.

Travelling in Tanzania – One of the Most Popular Destinations in Africa

Equatours Travel News

If you are looking for an action-packed holiday adventure that includes mountaineering, a safari, a cultural experience and a beach break, there is only one destination you should be heading to this year, and that is Tanzania.

One of Africa’s richest countries in terms of biodiversity, Tanzania homes Africa’s highest mountain – Mount Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti Ecosystem – one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa, the Ngorongoro Crater – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a whole archipelago of paradise islands including Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia.

Holidays to Tanzania

The perfect place for a double-destination holiday, Tanzania is easy to get to and to get around, and with cheap local flights connecting you between all the main ‘must-see’ regions, you can climb Kilimanjaro during your first week, before heading down to the sugar white beaches of Zanzibar for some much-needed R&R.

One To Watch: Visual Artist, Sara Golish

My Fashion S/ash Life

I stumbled across Sara Golish’s latest series, Moondust- an ode to Afrofuturism and natural hair-and I was so captivated by the Canadian artist’s work, that I decided to learn more about her.

sara1The Ontario College of Art & Design graduate’s work is rich with a melting pot of influences which include a love of Black North American culture and the 70s.  In fact, the 70s is an era that Sara is utterly enamoured with.  The music, vinyl records and their album covers, rollerskating, the iconic hues, the design sense, the cars and the photography: are all sources of inspirational for Sara.

I am currently searching for some African-inspired paintings for my flat and I am utterly in love with Sara’s work in this area and what she had to say to Canada Arts Connect about her inspiration, ‘I would like to bring an awareness and appreciation to the power…
