The nominations for the BET Awards 2012,  was announced on Tuesday May 22nd at a press conference in New York. Kanye West and Beyonce are the leading nominees for the 2012 BET Awards,with Kanye having 7 nominations — five with Jay-Z  and two solo mentions.  Beyonce also with 6 nominations, including two in the Video of the Year category for ‘Love on Top’ and ‘Countdown.’

Congratulations to Nigeria Entertainers  Wizkid and Iceprince who have been nominated for Best International Act: Africa along side Camp Mulla (Kenya), Lira (South Africa), Mokobe (Mali), Sarkodie (Ghana). Drake has four nominations including Best Male Hip-Hop Artist and Best Collaboration for ‘The Motto’ (with Tyga and Lil Wayne).  Big Sean, Miguel, Chris Brown and Lil Wayne all received three mentions apiece.

Actor Samuel L. Jackson has been tapped to host this year’s awards ceremony, which will take place on July 1 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. So far, Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown are scheduled to perform at the event. In addition, the BET Awards will present Maze featuring Frankie Beverly with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
